About Us
Community Impact / Success Stories
At the heart of our work is Montana CDC's mission of creating income opportunities for all members of our communities. We are dedicated to creating quality jobs and self-employment ventures that provide families with a dignified standard of living. We believe that this lays the economic base of a vibrant, sustainable community.

Ultimately our impact is measured by the number of entrepreneurs we help emerge and grow to seed a prosperous future for Montana. Since 1986, Montana CDC has lent $25 million through its Revolving Loan Fund and over $40 million through its New Markets Tax Credit financing. Our Small Business Development Center helps hundreds of businesses each year as they tackle marketing, financial and strategic challenges.

Montana CDC has been successful in reaching all members of the community with our loans.  The borrowers, who are typically lacking in assets or wealth, and their communities, which are typically very rural, would not have had these opportunities without Montana CDC. Low income borrowers make up over 40% of our customers. Over half of our loans are made in low- and moderate-income rural counties. About 60% of borrowers are women. And more than half of all loans are small "micro" loans.
