MCDC Recieves National Award for Town & Country NMTC Project

October 22, 2009

On October 22, 2009 the Novogradac Community Development Foundation (NCDF) presented MCDC with Honorable Mention for its excellent work and achievement as a Small Business QLICI. The award recognizes excellence in community development entities that have made exceptional qualified low-income community investments. MCDC was presented with its recognition on the special achievement in the field of community development at the Novogradac & Company LLP's New Markets Tax Credit Investors Conference in Chicago, Ill. Heidi DeArment, Vice President of Financial Services, leads the NMTC program at MCDC and accepted the recognition on its behalf.  Winners of the Community Development Awards were chosen from individuals and projects nominated by Novogradac & Company LLP conference attendees, subscribers to the New Markets Tax Credit Report and others in the new markets tax credit industry.

The award was the result of a news piece submitted to the Novogradac Company highlighting the Town & Country Grocer project in Bozeman that was financed with NMTC funding and implemented by MCDC. When the building will open at its estimated time of January 2010 it will provide a much needed boost to this low-income region of Bozeman. Among some of the benefits will be creation of much needed jobs, availability of low-cost products, and a overall boost to the business and life of a vacant area with a lot of potential.
