| Making Music in Missoula: Childbloom Guitar Program |
|
June 7, 2008 Supporting oneself as an artist doesn’t come easy, but Nathan Zavalney of the Childbloom Guitar Program does that and more. Although guitar has been a central component of this country’s musical history, it is surprisingly difficult to find effective guitar instruction for children. The Childbloom Guitar Program is a national comprehensive musical education program for children between the ages of 5 -12. Nathan became a trained and licensed Childbloom guitar instructor and started his business in 2000, specializing in classical, jazz and folk styles. Since 2000, Nathan has increased his enrollment numbers from 10 students to 50 students. Nathan is a well-known local musician in his own right, having been a central member of the musical group The Drum Brothers and has recently released his own CD, sold worldwide. Nathan also runs Burning the Midnight Oil Audio Productions, a music and recording business which allows local musicians and artists, including Nathan, to produce a variety of music and audio recordings for film, television, dance and commercial CD release. MCDC loaned Nathan money to restructure business credit card debt incurred for various equipment including sound proof panels used in his production studio. With MCDC’s loan Nathan can continue to share his artistic talents with the community and support himself as an artist. Nathan’s guitar instruction fills a troublesome void in childhood arts education in the public schools and his recording and production business keeps other musical entrepreneurs working right here in Missoula Montana. www.childbloom.com Recent Success Stories >> Success Stories Archive >> |
